Covid Crisis Pause for Hale Market

We’re aware that many of you are missing the monthly Food Market in Hale Village Hall, which sadly had to be put on hold due to Covid-19, just as we were approaching our 10th anniversary in March.

We’ve thought long and hard about whether to run it outdoors, but have decided instead to wait until we can go back to using the village hall again, for several reasons:

  • Rising rates of infection in most European countries including UK
  • Potential bad weather
  • The need to comply with complex guidelines to ensure our customers’ safety, such as one-way systems and cleaning regimes etc
  • Many of our regular customers & traders are in high risk groups and may still be shielding.
  • Difficulties with providing refreshments and distanced seating outdoors

We feel that the social side of the market, meeting old friends and catching up on the news, is critical to its success, and without the opportunity to sit down round a table with a cup of coffee, turnout could be poor.

Many of our traders have adapted admirably to the challenges of the crisis and modified their business models to deliver direct to customers.   We hope you will continue to support them - click here for details...
